We drove to Utah and stayed with Kraig and Jeannette (my brother and sister-in-law) the next morning we had breakfast with Sherry and Richard, another sister and brother-in-law (on their way to Martins Cove for their mission) and Rosemary (sister). It was so great to be with them. We then took in a session at the new Provo City Temple. It was so peaceful and beautiful. Truly Beauty from Ashes.

We then went to Salt Lake and had dinner with Bob's sisters, Jo-Lynn, Kaye and Sam and DaNell and Burt. We stayed with Kaye that night and had a great visit. The next morning we met with the Morgans and McBrides some missionaries we served with in Nauvoo and had a wonderful visit over breakfast. It had been raining almost constantly while we were in Utah and we had to tarp the truck carefully as all of our belongings were in the back. We then left early April 15 to drive to Idaho Falls where we spent the night with my sister Linda. Next morning on to Spokane Washington to stay with our son Justin and wife Heather and kids Joshua, Lilianna, Abigail, and Elizabeth. It was so fun to visit with them as we had not seen them or their new home since they left Mesa last July. We went to the Spokane Temple but it was closed for its two week cleaning so we only got to walk around the outside.

We went to the Spokane Falls, and the Riverpark We did a few projects around their beautiful home and yard. We attended church with them. They have a great ward and are much loved there. We left early on the 19 and encountered a huge bird with a wing span of at least 3 feet. It proceeded to fly into the passenger window. Debra ducked and the window shattered on the drivers side. Bob drove the rest of the way looking through a huge spider webbed window. The first thing we did when we got to Evanston was to get the windshield replaced.
We arrived in Wyoming on April 20. It was a beautiful day and for 2 days we enjoyed perfect weather. We set up our trailer with a lot of help from the 10 other couples we are serving with since we "know nothing" about trailer living. We call it our Home Sweet "tin can" Home.
Our new summer home for 2 years |
It really is nice and much better accommodations than the handcart pioneers had. Our first day here they moved in 5 semi-loads of cattle that had wintered in Promontory UT. They put them in the corrals about 100 yards from the trailers and the cowboys proceeded to brand, inoculate, and other things to them. From the sounds of their bellowing and mooing they were not too happy.
The cows around our trailers that mooed us to sleep |
We had that for 2 days and nights, which made sleeping a bit difficult. They turned them loose yesterday so we had a much quieter sleep last night! We have been learning the support roads in the rain, wind, and snow. It has been super cold but at least we are not having to sleep out in it like the handcart pioneers did. The wind cuts through the warmest coat we have.

We attended church this morning and all the people there were so excited to have "their trek missionaries" back. We have seen antelope, deer, badgers, and pot guts. We look forward to a great mission and a great summer.
